Araujo breaks silence on his Barca future amidst interest from Man United

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has finally spoken about his future at the Spanish club amidst transfer rumour linking him to Manchester United.

Araujo has grown to become a mainstay in Barcelona defence but after a disappointing 2023/24 season, he is reportedly on the radar of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich.

The Uruguayan international has now insisted that he is not overly concerned about his contract extension at the moment, emphasising that it is his agent’s responsibility to handle discussions with the club.

When asked about his future, he was quoted by Mundo Deportivo as saying, I am very well, I am calm. I have a contract until 2026.

“My representatives will meet with the club, but now I am focused on the national team,” he added.

Araujo also shared his thoughts about Barcelona’s 2023/24 season. The Catalonia failed to win a trophy and are set to begin next season under a new manager.

The start defender acknowledged that it wasn’t a successful one for the team, noting that it was a bad season.

“By not winning titles, it becomes a bad season, obviously,” he said.

Despite the challenges, he reassured fans that he is physically fit. He addressed concerns about his physical condition, specifically mentioning past knee issues, but confirmed that he is feeling good now.

“I am one hundred percent recovered. Physically I’m fine”

Araujo is set to play an important role under Hansi Flick next season as Barcelona aims to get back to winning ways.
