Arsenal £34 million star seeks summer exit due to limited game time

Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira is reportedly considering a move away from the London club due to limited game time under Mikel Arteta.

Vieira joined Arsenal from Porto in the summer of 2022 for £34 million but has failed to keep up with the competition in Mikel Arteta’s squad. The 23-year-old after returning from groin surgery in February he played just 54 minutes of Premier League football.

With the summer transfer window set to kickstart in the next few days, Viera could be on his way out of Emirates Stadium.

According to The Athletic, Vieira’s lack of game time has come from his performances in training not impressing enough to see him climb up the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.

With this in mind, he has been named as one of the players who could leave the club in the summer, although there could be another move that stops that happening.

Viera might stay at Arsenal if academy graduate Emile Smith Rowe is sold and a replacement is not bought in. Mikel Arteta does not want to lose both stars without getting a replacement.

The Portuguese last start for Arsenal came way back in November in the Carabao Cup fourth round defeat against West Ham United. Viera settled for cameos from the bench since then Arsenal pushed for the Premier League title.

Viera has three years remaining on his contract with the club, meaning that Arsenal could get a decent fee. They may however settle for a loss on the £34 million they paid Porto for the midfielder in the summer of 2022.
