Arsenal defender sets new Premier League record despite City’s title triumph

Arsenal failed in their quest to win the Premier League title with Manchester City continuing their dominance with a fourth consecutive league title.

Manchester City defeated West Ham United to maintain their two points lead over Arsenal who also defeated Everton 2-1.

Despite their failure to win the league, Arsenal defender William Saliba made a name for himself as one of the best defenders in the league.

Saliba enjoyed yet another impressive year at the heart of Arsenal’s backline, alongside Gabriel Magalhaes. Following his latest 90 minutes in an Arsenal shirt, Saliba reached an impressive milestone on Sunday.

The centre-back became the first-ever outfield Arsenal player to play every single minute in a Premier League season.

Lee Dixon achieved the same feat back in 1989/90, before the Premier League was officially formed.

The Frenchman formed part of a defence which conceded the fewest goals in the league this term just 29 in 38 games.

Having played every single minute of the season, Saliba netted two goals and provided one assist in the league this season. His impressive form also helped David Raya pick up the Golden Glove award, with Arsenal keeping 18 clean sheets.

Arsenal might have failed to win the ultimate prize but Saliba will be proud of his latest achievement and will be eager to do more next season.
