Arsenal longest longest-serving player confirms his departure

Mohamed Elneny has confirmed he will be leaving Arsenal at the end of the season, putting an end to his 8 years spell at the club.

Elneny arrived at the Emirates in the January transfer window of 2016 during Arsene Wenger‘s reign at the club, joining from Swiss side Basel.

The Egypt international since his arrival played an important role in the squad despite not being able to force his way into the first eleven.

Elneny via a post on social media hailed Arsenal supporters as the club’s longest-serving player bids an emotional farewell before their final game.

‘Gooners, I’m here today to send you a message, to say goodbye and thank you for everything you’ve done for me.’ The 31-year-old said in a post shared on his X account.

‘The love, the support and the kindness. I’m really going to miss you so much and you’ll be in my heart forever.

‘I wanted to say how much I love you and how much you mean to me. I will never forget the way you supported me.

‘I’m going to see you on Sunday at the Emirates to say goodbye face to face, see you then.’

Elneny has made 161 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, scoring six goals. He will be eager to make an appearance in Arsenal’s last match against Everton.

Mikel Arteta’s team will be facing Everton on Sunday. Victory against the Toffees will not be enough on its own however, and Arsenal will be hoping that West Ham are able to upset Manchester City on the final day.
