Arsenal set new Premier League record with win over Man Utd, Arteta reacts

Arsenal continued their push for the Premier League title with a victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Leandro Trossard‘s first-half strike earned Arsenal their 27th Premier League win of the season, a move that saw them set a new record.

Arsenal’s 27th Premier League win of the season is a new club record in a 38-game league campaign. The victory surpassed the wins the 2003/04 Invincibles achieved and the double winners of 2001/2.

Reacting to their latest achievement, Arteta complimented the player and staff for a job well done. He noted that their achievement is an historical moment for the club.

Arteta told reporters: “That’s 27 wins in the Premier League, it’s the most in the history of this football club in 130 years. That’s not progress, that’s history and that’s very, very difficult to do, especially in the league that we are playing in now. So big compliment to all the players and the staff for what they’ve done.”

Arsenal will be eager to see Manchester City drop point on Wednesday when they face Tottenham Hotspur for their last and only outstanding match.

City are currently on point behind Arsenal and victory over Tottenham will see them overtake the London club ahead of the final league matches.
