Arsenal set sight on former basketball star as Arteta evaluates his attacking option

Arsenal are interested in signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig this summer as Mikel Arteta prepares for another thrilling Premier League season.

Sesko has grown to become one of the most sorts after talent in Europe after a sensational season with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

The young forward finished his first year in Bundesliga with 14 goals and two assists from 31 games (17 starts), at A scoring rate of one every 110 minutes.

Seskos’ performance has attracted clubs I’m Europe and Arsenal are eager to sign the young forward who is also great at playing basketball.

“Benjamin Sesko was an excellent basketball player. Have you heard about that? said Salzburg’s media officer Christian Kircher. “I think he was still 14 or 15, something like that and still thinking about playing for Slovenia’s national team in basketball.”

On his time at Salzburg, Krsko’s sporting director Rok Zorko added: “Benji was practically unstoppable with us. Although he looked a little funny with his long legs and chubby posture, he was not funny at all when he got the ball at his feet!

“He would spend hours and days on the street playing football and basketball. Although he was not nearly developed yet, he was extremely fast, had a long stride and an excellent shot with both feet.

“In two years of playing for us, he scored more than 100 goals in all matches. This is definitely a record [for us]. I think that he surpassed all records in Slovenia at that age as well.”

Arsenal are prepared to pay Seskos’ £55million release clause price this summer with Mikel Arteta eager to sort the forward line before the start of preseason.
