Barcelona to lose out on playmaker as parent club set €60 million price tag

Barcelona might fail to sign Joao Felix on a permanent deal from Atletico Madrid in the summer as a price tag of €60 million has been placed on the Portuguese playmaker.

Joao Felix has failed to fulfill his potential at Atletico Madrid and was allowed to leave for Barcelona on loan for the 2023/24 football season.

Before departing for the Catalan club, Felix extended his contract with Atletico Madrid until 2029 as they believe he still has a role to play.

Though Barcelona are reportedly eyeing a permanent move for Felix, the deal might not go through due to the Catalonia club financial situation and Atletico Madrid price tag.

Despite the setback, it is said that Barcelona club could seek another loan deal, but they would need to negotiate with Atletico.

At 24 years old, Felix is in the prime of his career, despite failing to shine under Diego Simeone, he has shone brightly under Xavi’s management at Barcelona.

In 41 official matches, he has scored ten goals—seven in La Liga and three in the Champions League—and provided six assists.

With only four games remaining in the season, Atletico are expected to address Felix’s situation in the coming weeks. It’s left to see where the talented playmaker will play next season.
