Chelsea consider signing former youth player now valued at £65m

Chelsea are reportedly interested in bringing in Dominic Solanke back to Stamford Bridge years after he left the club for a new adventure.

Solanke was at Stamford Bridge until 2017 when he decided to join Liverpool. He left Chelsea after winning the blues inaugural Player of the Year in 2015 and also finished with the Golden Ball for England’s Under-20 in their World Cup win.

Despite failing to impress at Liverpool, Solanke has grown to become a better player at Bournemouth. His impressive form has now seen him linked with a move back to Stamford Bridge.

According to reports, Chelsea are prepared to shift their attention to Solanke after RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko decided to sign a new improved deal.

Chelsea are also not willing to splash over £100m on Napoli forward Victor Osimhen.

Sources believe that Bournemouth are concerned that Solanke could leave the Vitality Stadium this summer – which was not the case only a matter of weeks ago.

Solanke does not have a release clause in his contract and Chelsea are ready to take advantage of the situation.

Sources have confirmed that the clause allows Solanke’s to leave for £65m and that can be activated by England’s ‘big six’ clubs – Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

Solanke enjoyed a successful 2023/24 season, scoring 19 goals for Bournemouth. His goal tally saw him finish fourth in the goalscoring charts only behind Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak.
