Cristiano Ronaldo breaks Saudi Pro League record after another stunning season

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken a Saudi Pro League record after another stunning campaign that saw him score 35 goals in 31 games.

Al Nassr faced Al Ittihad in their final game of the season and Ronaldo ensured he adds to his record as his side secure a 4-2 win to confirm second spot in the table.

Ronaldo scored two goals and in doing so the former Real Madrid forward reached 35 goals for the season, breaking the previous record of 34 set by Abderrazak Hamdallah back in 2019/20.

As well as scoring 35 goals in 31 games, the 39-year-old also contributed 11 assists for Al-Nassr in his first full campaign for the club.

But his achievements are about way more than just one successful season. After finishing as top goalscorer in the Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo has extended a pretty staggering record.

Ronaldo has now become the first player to be top goalscorer in four different top flights – the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and the Saudi Pro League.

The Portuguese forward won the Premier League golden boot with Man United in 2008, was La Liga’s top goalscorer on three occasions before becoming Serie A’s top scorer in 2020/21.

The only top-tier league that he hasn’t finished as top goalscorer in is the Liga Portugal where Ronaldo scored three goals in 25 games as a fresh-faced teenager in 2002/03.

Ronaldo will be back in action with the Portuguese national team when they play at the 2024 European tournament.
