De Bruyne reveals Man City stance on his future amid Saudi Arabia interest

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne says he will return to the Premier League champion after the ongoing UEFA Euro championship.

De Bruyne, 33, has a year left on his City contract and there has not yet been any movement on contract talks regarding an extension.

Having been injured for the most part of the 2023/24 season, City are reportedly interested in moving past De Bruyne era. Report claimed they are there are some concerns over how long he can maintain his levels at the top.

With top Saudi Arabia clubs monitoring the situation, there are claims De Bruyne might consider making the move.

Speaking ahead of Belgium’s Euro 2024 last-16 clash with France on Monday, De Bruyne clarified his future at Man City.

He told Het Nieuwsblad: “Yes [I’ll stay at City]. I’ve read a lot of headlines about a transfer, but I haven’t spoken to anyone.

I saw him [Michael Emanalo, Saudi Pro League Sporting Director] at the Club World Cup. I know Michael – then it makes sense for us to have a chat. But it wasn’t about that.”

“It’s hard to say now [what he will do after leaving City]. We will be sitting around the table in the coming months.”

In quotes relayed by HLN, De Bruyne added: “I’ll have a quiet summer. I’ll enjoy my holidays and will return to Man City afterwards. I assume there will be talks with City in the upcoming months.”

Manchester City won their fourth consecutive Premier League title last season and will be eager to continue their dominance when the new season begins.

The Citizens have been linked with Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes as he’s been tipped as a direct replacement for De Bruyne.
