Didier Deschamps provide update on Kylian Mbappe’s broken nose

France manager Didier Deschamps has given the latest update about Kylian Mbappe’s broken nose ahead of their second group stage game at Euro 2024.

Mbappe was forced off the pitch in the latter stages of France’s 1-0 victory over Austria on Monday night due to a broken nose.

The injury raised concerns about his availability for the rest of the Euro 2024 tournament, causing a wave of worry among French supporters.

However, Mbappe returned to France training pitch on Wednesday, just days after the injury. He participated in light duties, wearing a bandage over his nose to protect the injury.

The French squad arrived in Leipzig on Thursday afternoon, and Mbappe was seen without a bandage or mask as he got off the team bus, further fueling hopes of his quick recovery.

Deschamps during his pre match conference noted confirmed that Mbappe could potentially return to action against the Netherlands.

He stated: “Everything is going in the right direction after the major shock he had with the consequences, of course. Yesterday, he was able to go out and do a little activity. This will also be the case this evening. It’s moving in the right direction to make sure he can be available tomorrow.”

Deschamps further confirmed that Mbappe will be wearing a protective mask for the remainder of the competition to safeguard his nose from further damage.

“Kylian will be wearing a mask,” Deschamps confirmed. “We don’t need to know the details of this mask. I think you have enough moles to know where the mask is coming from.”

France will book a place in the knockout stages by defeating the Netherlands. Mbappe failed to score in the first match and will be looking to get on the score sheet if he’s fit to play.
