‘Don’t do something crazy’: Ancelotti urges star defender to stay at Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti hopes  Nacho Fernandez will change his mind on leaving Real Madrid, as the defender nears the end of his contract.

Nacho’s 12 years spell at Real Madrid is set to come to the end when his contract ends this June. The Spanish international has been linked with various clubs across Europe.

Despite playing as a backup defender, Nacho has been impressive when called upon and was instrumental in Real Madrid’s 15th Champions League triumph.

Though Nacho is reportedly closing in on a move to another club, Ancelotti has has his say on the matter, encouraging Nacho to rethink his decision.

According to Marca, Ancelotti said: “Don’t do something crazy, stay here, with us, at Real Madrid.”

Nacho made 45 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign, including 12 in the Champions League. As the club captain, Nacho is highly respected in the Madrid squad and has become a role model to young players in the team.

Aside from winning the Champions League title, Nacho also helped Real Madrid clinch the La Liga title.

Nacho has received rumoured interest from Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr and Lionel Messi’s club Inter Miami.
