EURO 2024: Spain risk violating strict German law, could receive huge punishment

Despite not going into Euro 2024 as favourites, Spain have shown what they can do by winning their first two group games convincingly.

The Spanish team defeated Croatia 3-0 before recording a 1-0 victory over Italy last Thursday. They resume their campaign on Monday when they face Albania in their last group stage game.

With Spain favoured to get maximum three points, latest report claim they face a dilemma over 16-year-old sensational Lamine Yamal.

In Germany, under-18s, whether German or foreign, are not allowed to work past 8pm in order to protect them in the workplace.

BILD via Cadena Cope state that there are exceptions for athletes to play until 11pm, but that includes to shower and complete media obligations.

However, Spain could break the German law if Yamal plays the full match against Albania. The young Barcelona winger has started Spain opening two Euro 2024 games.

Substituted in both appearances, Yamal is expected to start against Albania.

However, if Spain’s knockout game goes to extra time and Yamal is involved, it would be difficult to comply with the law, which could result in a sanction.

La Roja could be hit with a €30k fine if the German authorities decide to take action. However, Germany might not take this serious due to the situation of things.

Yamal’s well-being isn’t being harmed when playing and it would come as a surprise if German authorities take action against Spain.
