Former City manager reveals how rivals will react if Pep Guardiola quit Man City

Manchester City won their fourth consecutive Premier League title at the just concluded 2023/24 football season and this can be attributed to the genius of Pep Guardiola.

Pep Guardiola has turned Manchester City into a serial winner but it’s been rumoured the 2024/25 season will be his last at the club.

The Spaniard has just one year left on his current City deal, and announced after City lifted the Premier League trophy that he was ‘closer to leaving than staying’.

Pep Guardiola is reportedly willing to take a break from football after another fruitful adventure at Man City.

Former City manager Stuart Pearce has now insisted that he wouldn’t be surprised if this season is Guardiola’s last at the Etihad Stadium.

Stuart Pearce claims that City’s rivals would drive him to the airport themselves, to give themselves a chance of ending dominance

He said: “I would be more surprised if Pep Guardiola stayed another five years than if he decided that the upcoming season would be his last.

“He’s arguably the best manager the Premier League’s ever seen and I for one, would be disappointed if he left because when I’ve been at City on the odd occasion, he’s shown me a level of football that I’ve never seen before.

“He’s been absolutely incredible, but I think his rivals will be absolutely delighted. They’ll drive him to the airport to get him out of Manchester City, in the hope that they drop off slightly.”

Manchester City won the Premier League title for the fourth consecutive season and their sixth in the last seven years. However, they were beaten in the FA Cup final by Man United and lost in the UEFA Champions League semi-final to eventual winners, Real Madrid.
