Frank Lampard tipped to replace Vincent Kompany as Burnley manager

Frank Lampard

Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has been listed among the coaches set to replace Vincent Kompany at Burnley.

Kompany is set to complete a surprising move to Bayern Munich despite failing to keep Burnley in the Premier League a season after he helped them gain promotion.

Despite a number of signings during last summer’s transfer window, Burnley were relegated back to the Championship.

The Clarets concluded a sobering campaign with three straight losses to Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Forest, conceding eight goals over the trio of matches.

However, that has not stopped Kompany from getting what could be the biggest role in his coaching career.

Burnley are now preparing for his exit and have identified two managers who could come to Turf Moor and attempt to secure the club an instant return to the Premier League next season.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Burnley are hoping to recruit the services of either Frank Lampard or Steve Cooper during the off-season.

Although the beginning of pre-season testing is still a month away, it is understood that Burnley want to be swift with their appointment of a new head coach.

It is said that Clarets chairman Alan Pace is keen to secure a manager with either a promotion on their CV or one who is a big name in the world of football.
