Germany legend reveals how Bayern Munich biggest mistake affected Real Madrid

Bayern Munich are undoubtedly one of the biggest football clubs in the world with their achievements on and off the pitch enough evidence.

However, the Bundesliga side struggled last season, failing to win a trophy and losing the league title to a well-drilled Bayern Leverkusen team.

Despite bringing in Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich failed to live up to expectations.

Germany legend and former Bayern Munich player Lothar Matthäus has now insist that the club decision to sell Toni Kroos to Real Madrid is their biggest mistake.

Kroos joined Madrid in 2014 and went on to become a club legend at the Spanish giant. The Germany international will retire at the end of Euro 2024 and has continued to receive praises from fans.

When recently asked about the career of Real Madrid star Toni Kroos, Matthäus indicated that selling the midfielder was Bayern Munich’s biggest mistake.

“From FC Bayern’s point of view, it was the biggest mistake in the club’s history to sell Toni Kroos simply out of emotion and vanity. Similar to the departure of David Alaba, the decision here was not made rationally. The Kroos case will hurt those responsible for many, many years to come,” told Bild (as captured by the Daily Mail).

Toni Kroos is currently part of the Germany team playing at the 2024 European Championship.

The former Real Madrid star won the prestigious Champions League trophy with the Los Blanco as well as the La Liga title before calling time on his career.
