‘He left a hole in the team’: Guardiola reportedly missing Barcelona star

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola is reportedly missing the impact of İlkay Gündoğan in his squad as the German star continues to shine at Barcelona.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team have been flying high this season as they are on course to win another Premier League title.

However, they were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid after a thrilling two-legged quarter-final clash.

Reports claimed Guardiola believes his team would achieve more if İlkay Gündoğan was still in their squad.

Mateo Kovačić and Matheus Nunes were brought in to replace the Germany international but neither has quite measured up to the Barcelona midfielder.

Gündoğan was Guardiola’s first signings when he arrived at Manchester City, and one of the captains of the team. He played a key role in their success but was eventually allowed to leave on a free transfer.

Manchester City are still on course to win the Premier League but are facing stiff competition from Arsenal and Liverpool. The citizens will also play Manchester United in the finals of this year’s FA Cup.
