“I think I’m alright. It’s a bit sore. The place in the achilles is really sore,” he told Sky Sports. “It felt like it was a knife at the moment that I got the impact. It’s an impact [injury] so it’s not bad. It will be alright.”

De Bruyne also spoke of his preparation towards the tie against West Ham, noting that they are aware the title race is still not over.

“We were happy because it gets us to the place we want to be on Sunday, but I don’t feel like there were any extra celebrations,” said the 32-year-old. “We know it’s not done yet, even if everyone is talking and saying ‘it should be easy’. I’ve played in these games before and it’s never easy. There’s always the pressure of being in that situation.”

De Bruyne has played a huge role in Manchester City’s successful over the year as he registered his 112th Premier League assist on Tuesday.

The former Chelsea midfielders is now ranked second in the league’s all-time assists ranking, behind Ryan Giggs’ tally of 162.
