Liverpool confirm interest in Real Madrid top-target valued at £50million

As Arne Slot begins his adventure as Liverpool manager, the Reds have confirmed their interest in 18-year-old Lille defender, Leny Yoro.

According to a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool confirmed their interest in the young defender but feel Real Madrid are favourites to sign the Frenchman this summer.

Real Madrid are also on the lookout for a defender with veteran captain Nacho Fernandez likely to leave the club this summer upon expiration of his contract.

Liverpool on the other hand are also seeking a replacement for Joel Matip and have identified Yoro as a perfect replacement.

Regarded as one of the most promising young centre-backs on the continent, Yoro is a target for multiple European sides this summer.

Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain are some of the clubs linked to the Yoro.

However, Romano suggests Liverpool have ‘already made some steps’ in pursuit of Yoro, but his dream destination remains Real Madrid.

Yoro is approaching his final contract year with Lille – his asking price could be reduced to around £50million this summer, while Real Madrid have previously offered around £30 million.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, suggests Liverpool are ready to pounce on the deal to sign Yoro if his talks with Real collapse:

“Liverpool already confirmed their interest to the player side so Liverpool already made some steps on this, but also Liverpool feel that Real Madrid are favourites in this story.

“So Liverpool are there in case something happens between Real Madrid and Leny Yoro.”

Yoro made 44 appearances for the Ligue 1 side in all competitions last season and has been tipped to become one of the best defenders of his generation.
