Liverpool set sight on Bundesliga forward as Darwin Nunez replacement

Liverpool are prepared to sign Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier this summer transfer window as a direct replacement for Darwin Nunez.

Nunez put in an impressive performance for Liverpool last season but was guilty of missing some goalscoring chances.

According to reports, the Uruguay inconsistency in front of goal bothers Arne Slot who now want a new forward to compete with Nunez.

Sportbild reports that Liverpool are impressed with Beier’s versatility as he’s able to play off both flanks as well as a No.9. He has also received comparisons to Roberto Firmino.

The 21-year-old was given his first taste of Bundesliga football this past season after spending the campaign before that at Hannover 96 in the tier below.

Beier adapted well to the step up in class to score a respectable 16 goals in 33 appearances in the German top flight which is believed to have convinced the Reds.

Nunez on the other hand scored two more goals than Beier this season but in 54 appearances. The Uruguay international has also been linked with a shock move to Barcelona.

Give Me Sport also report that PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko has reportedly been scouted by the Reds. It’s left to see how Liverpool summer business will go as Slot begins a new era at the club.
