Liverpool star forward Cody Gakpo has revealed he is yet to speak with new boss Arne Slot ahead of pre-season and can’t wait to have a conversation with the new manager.
Arne Slot will begin his role as Liverpool manager during preseason and he’s expected to meet all player in England before they jet out for their preseason tour.
Gakpo who was signed by Jurgen Klopp will be playing under a new manager and he can’t wait to have a conversation with Slot as they both prepare for the 2024/25 season.
Speaking to De Telegraaf via Sport Witness, Gakpo spoke about the arrival of Slot and his plans to get in touch with his new boss. He said: “I just don’t know yet what he is like as a trainer and I have not spoken to him before. Then I’m not just going to shout something, am I? But I do know that he has always made it very difficult for us at PSV and is known as a very good trainer, of course.
“Eventually there will be a conversation about the situation of each player and what the plans are. If you talk about neat football and high pressure, with the latter being a very big characteristic of us under Jürgen Klopp, then that is also something we are certainly used to.”
Gakpo, 25, was signed by Liverpool from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 and has since gone on to make 56 appearances for the Reds, scoring 15 goals so far.
The versatile forward has had encounters with Slot during their time together in the Eredivisie but this is the first time they will be working together at a club.
