Man City chief insist sends strong warning to United owner over latest move

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Minority Shareholder of Manchester United, looks on from the stands along with Avram Glazer, Owner of Manchester United.

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has warned Sir Jim Ratcliffe that the poaching of Omar Berrada won’t affect his club as they continue to go from ‘strength to strength’.

After failing to impress last season, Manchester United are making a lot of changes on and off the pitch.

The Red Devils earlier this year announced Berrada would quit his role as City’s chief football operations officer to take over as chief executive at United this summer.

Despite this bold move by Man United, Man City chairman Khaldoon is confident that the machine behind the scenes at the Etihad can continue to make City the biggest force in English football.

“We have a lot to learn from our noisy neighbour and the other neighbour [Liverpool],” Ratcliffe said after his arrival at United was announced. “They are the enemy at the end of the day. There is nothing I would like better than to knock both of them off their perch.

“But they have been in a good place for a while and there are things we can learn from both of them. They have sensible organisations, great people within the organisations, a good, driven and elite environment that they work in. I am very respectful of them but they are still the enemy.”

Manchester United are eager to compete on a d off the pitch next season. The club have initially raided City for one of their senior executives in Berrada, who officially joins on July 13.

Former City Academy chief Jason Wilcox has also joined as technical director after a spell at Southampton.

Erik ten Hag will be staying at United to continue the rebuilding process as the club believes a new era can emerge under the guidance of the Dutch tactician.
