Man City midfielder offered to Roma as Pep Guardiola seeks clarification

Manchester City are active in this summer transfer window as Pep Guardiola seeks clarification on the future of some players at the club.

As the club continue to be linked with some players, Pep Guardiola is set to do away with some players surplus to requirement.

Topping that list is England international Kalvin Phillips. Despite arriving in Etihad Stadium with so much potential and hype, the England midfielder has failed to meet up with Guardiola’s standard.

After starting just two City games before January, Phillips endured a horrid loan spell at West Ham where his stock value dropped.

The 28-year-old started just three of his 10 Hammers matches, and was sent off against Nottingham Forest in February.

Pep Guardiola made reference to his lack of fitness following his return from the 2022 World Cup, branding him “overweight” – something he apologised for in February.

However, latest report from Tuttomercatoweb claimed Phillips has been offered to Roma by his agents.

The report states that his representatives have contacted a number of clubs to sound out potential options ahead of an expected exit from the Etihad Stadium.

Roma boss Daniele De Rossi is thought to be an admirer of Phillips but is concerned over his fitness. Guardiola’s comment in the past has also been taking into consideration.

Phillip will leave Man City this summer but it’s still unclear where he will be playing.

Meanwhile, Man City are yet to reach an agreement with Bruno Guimaraes who has been identified as a perfect fit for Pep Guardiola’s team.
