Man Utd ban duo from pre-season training as Erik ten Hag begin new era

Despite being linked with a move away from Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag will continue his role as Manchester United manager and he’s set to make a big statement.

Manchester United finished 2023/24 season in eighth place and only qualified for the Europa League after their FA Cup victory over Manchester City.

With the club now eager to return to winning ways next season, Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho have reportedly being told to stay away from their pre-season training as they search for new clubs.

Greenwood spent the whole of last season on loan at Getafe while Sancho spent the second half of the season playing for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

According to HITC, United will exclude Greenwood and Sancho from their pre-season training plans. The club have reportedly decided that it would be best for neither player to be seen to be taking part in their preparations for the 2024-25 campaign.

Ten Hag’s squad are expected to report for pre-season around July 8. However, players who played at Euro 2024 and Copa America will be given extended break.

Greenwood and Sancho are expected to leave Old Trafford over the coming weeks with clubs in Italy, France and Germany eager to have them in their squad.

Sancho enjoined a brilliant season with Dortmund, helping the Bundesliga side reach the Champions League final, which they lost against Real Madrid.

On the other hand, Greenwood scored eight La Liga goals for Getafe last season, in addition to registering six assists. He was also voted the club player of the season.
