Man Utd expected to retain coach despite shambolic season under Erik ten Hag

Manchester United coach Steve McClaren will reportedly remain with the club past this summer even if Erik ten Hag is sacked.

Erik ten Hag has been under heavy criticism following Manchester United’s inconsistent performance throughout the season.

Manchester United are likely to miss out a place in European football next season with the Red Devils currently ranked 8th on the Premier League table.

Reports have claimed United’s new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his company INEOS are looking to make positive changes at the club, it is expected that Ten Hag and his coaching staff will be allowed to leave.

In addition, some players will also be shown the exit door. However, as per The Mirror, McClaren will retain his job at Old Trafford.

According to the report, McClaren holds a special relationship with Sir Dave Brailsford of INEOS and has earned the admiration of the club’s top brass.

McClaren and Brailsford reportedly developed a bond earlier on when McClaren had invited the cycling guru to talk with his Derby side a few years ago.

Manchester United’s only shot at a title this season is the FA Cup where they will.be facing Manchester City at the Wembley Stadium.
