Manchester City wins historical fourth consecutive Premier League title

Manchester City have won the 2023/24 Premier League title after a 3-1 victory over West Ham United in their final league match of the season.

Pep Guardiola needed a win to secure their fourth consecutive Premier League title and Phil Foden proved why they should be champions by scoring in first two minutes.

Crowned the Premier League player of the season, Foden continued his good form by lashing a shot into the top corner before scoring his second of the match in the 18th minute.

However, a stunning bicycle kick from Mohammed Kudus before halftime brought West Ham briefly into the game.

Though fans were hoping for an intense moment going into the final minutes of the game, Rodri sealed the victory with a low 59th-minute shot from outside the area, giving Pep Guardiola’s side a phenomenal sixth title in seven years.

Fans danced in their seats, belting out: “Champions again!” and “Are you watching Arsenal?”

On five previous occasions clubs have won the league three times. None have ever made it four and now, for City, it is six times in the past seven campaigns with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool the only act of defiance.

Arsenal could have taken the championship had City dropped points. But the Londoners’ 2-1 win in their game against Everton was in vain, as they finished two points behind.

Manchester City have the chance of winning the double as they face Manchester United in the FA Cup final Saturday.
