Manchester United open talks over Mason Greenwood summer exit

Manchester United have reportedly opened talks with Spanish side, Getafe, over the future of Mason Greenwood at the club.

Greenwood has resurrected his career at Getafe ever since he joined on a season-long loan deal last summer. The England star has improved on the pitch, showing his class week in, week out.

Though various reports have claimed United are willing to have him back in England, Greenwood’s dropped charges of attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and engaging in coercive and controlling behaviour could play a huge role.

Public backlash led to United’s decision to allow him join Getafe on loan and that might also be the case this summer.

According to The Athletic, Man United and Getafe have begun talks over a potential loan move for the 2024-25 season.

Getafe are exploring the possibility of bringing Greenwood back to the Coliseum after being impressed with his impact in La Liga.

However, they are unlikely to pursue a permanent deal and are aware that Greenwood could look to move to a Champions League club for next season.

Greenwood has enjoyed a productive season with Getafe, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 29 La Liga appearances.

Italian giant, Juventus are also believed to be leading the race for Greenwood and could make a push to sign him in the summer transfer window.
