Mauricio Pochettino agrees huge contract pay-off with Chelsea

Former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has agreed a contract pay-off with the London club, a move that means the Argentine is now able to take up another job.

Chelsea parted ways with Pochettino after just one season. The decision was confirmed days after the Argentine led Chelsea to sixth place finish in the Premier League.

The London club were set to qualify for the Europa League but dropped into the UEFA Conference competition following Man United’s FA Cup triumph.

However, Pochettino will be able to discuss with other clubs after agreeing compensation with Chelsea, according to The Sun.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain manager has come to an agreement that will see him receive a £10m pay-off.

Pochettino has been linked to various jobs ever since he was shown the exit door by Chelsea. The 52-year-old was one of the names in the frame to replace Erik ten Hag at Man United prior to the Dutchman remaining in charge.

He has also been linked to the England national team job with Gareth Southgate’s future unsure.

Gareth Southgate is currently under intense pressure with England failing to convince fans with their performance at the ongoing Euro 2024 tournament.

Pochettino could be the ready-made replacement and is liked due to his ability to work and get the best out of young English players as he did at both Chelsea, Spurs and Southampton previously.

The displaced manager is open to staying in England but is currently waiting for a position to become available with no spots in the top-flight available at this moment in time.
