Massive Leap: Premier League legend in talks for first job as manager

Former Manchester United and Arsenal forward, Robin van Persie is set to take his first step towards becoming a manager.

Robin van Persie who starred for club and country during his playing days has held initial talks with Dutch club Heerenveen over becoming their new manager at the end of the season.

The 40-year-old has been building up his coaching CV since 2020 but is yet to take the leap into the hot-seat.

Van Persie

That will change is talks with Heerenveen see the light. Robin van Persie started his way into coaching by joining Feyenoord Under-18 as the assistant coach.

However, he went on to become the Under-18 and Under-19 sides coach.

Earlier this season, Van Persie  returned to Manchester United  to complete part of his UEFA Pro License as he watched training and spoke to staff.

Heerenveen are currently 11th in the Eredivisie, with current manager Kees van Wonderen set to leave at the end of the season. If Van Persie joins the Dutch team, he will be facing former Man Utd star, Ruud van Nistelrooy who is currently PSV manager.

Robin van Persie during his playing days was known for his goal scoring and it’s left to see if he’ll replicate such form on the touchline.
