PSG set eye on Real Madrid star as revenge for Kylian Mbappe’s departure

Paris Saint-Germain are considering making a move for Real Madrid’s 28-year-old defensive mainstay Ferland Mendy this summer.

Luis Enrique is eager to build a strong team capable of fighting for trophies in Europe and not just in the domestic league.

With Kylian Mbappe leaving PSG at the end of this month and looking likely to join Real Madrid, the French club are looking at strengthening the team in all areas.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Ferland Mendy is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain with the newly-crowned Ligue 1 champions scouring the market for a left-back.

Mendy has emerged as a target for PSG as they look to exact revenge for Kylian Mbappe’s impending move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Frenchman joined Real Madrid from Lyon half a decade ago for €48 million and he hit the ground running at the Santiago Bernabeu. Mendy immediately usurped Marcelo as the first-choice left-back and has maintained that role throughout his spell at Real Madrid.

However, the 28-year-old has seen his stock drop in the last few years due to his recent fitness issues. This season he rediscovered his form under Carlo Ancelotti and has become an important player in the squad.

Mendy faces an uncertain future at the Bernabeu as he will enter the final year of his contract on July 1. PSG are one of the top clubs monitoring his situation as they hope to take advantage.
