PSG set unwanted Champions League record after defeat to Borussia Dortmund

Paris Saint-Germain were defeated in front of their home fans by Borussia Dortmund as the French Ligue 1 side fails to make the 2023/24 Champions League final.

Luis Enrique’s side lost 2-0 on aggregate to Dortmund, with Mats Hummels scoring the only goal of the game at the Parc des Princes.

Despite putting in an impressive performance, PSG failed to breach Dortmund’s defense for ninety minutes.

As Dortmund prepare to face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid at Wembley, PSG during the defeat set an unwanted Champions League record.

Remarkably, PSG hit the woodwork on SIX occasions across the two fixtures – including four in the second leg.

Kylian Mbappe, Warren Zaire-Emery, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha all struck the goal-frame.

According to Opta, PSG now hold the unwanted record in the Champions League of hitting the woodwork on most occasions since Opta started collecting data in 2003/04.

It eclipses Barcelona’s tally of 11 many years back, while PSG also mustered a remarkable 44 shots without finding the net.

PSG will be hoping for more luck next season as they continue to search for their first Champions League trophy.
