Tottenham plot summer swoop for £34 million Seria A star midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur are set to go head to head with European clubs for the signature of Atalanta star and 2024 Europa League winner Ederson in this summer’s transfer window.

Ederson shone brightly during the 2023/24 season and has attracted teams from the Premier League and Seria A.

According to Tutto Juve, Tottenham Hotspur have join the queue with Juventus and Newcastle United also interested in the talented midfielder.

Ederson is valued at £34 million, as per the same source, and his ability to play anywhere across the midfield has been an attractive factor for the 24-year-old’s suitors ahead of a probable summer switch.

Having failed to qualify for the Champions League, Tottenham are expected to provide Ange Postecoglou with a reasonable amount of financial backing in the transfer window.

Topping the list of potential arrival in Tottenham is a defensive midfielder and Ederson has been identified as a perfect fit.

Tottenham Hotspur have shopped in the Serie A in recent years, most notably for Cristian Romero, who was signed from Atalanta and the former Juventus duo of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Adapting into the Premier League have not been difficult for these players and Tottenham believes Ederson will follow suit.

Ederson will be looking to replace Yves Bissouma who has failed to live up to expectations at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who could be departing the club this summer.

However, Juventus interest in the player will give Tottenham more work to do. Juventus will be playing Champions League football but Tottenham can offer a better salary than the financially crippled Old Lady of Turin.
