Tottenham ‘very close’ to signing £85m star, submit formal proposal

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ‘very close’ to signing Feyenoord star Santiago Giménez this summer as they start their summer transfer business.

Having finished fifth in the Premier League last season, Tottenham are eager to add more quality to their squad as they seek a return to Champions League.

Ange Postecoglou is said to be looking to reinforce several areas of the squad and Feyenoord star Giménez has been identified as a perfect fit for the team.

According to report from journalist Juan Carlos Cruz, Tottenham have already started working on a deal to sign the Mexican although he is currently busy playing for Mexico in Copa America.

The journalist claimed Tottenham have already launched an offer to sign the 23-year-old and along with the Lilywhites, Atletico Madrid have also submitted a proposal.

However, Cruz states that Spurs’ bid is higher than Los Rojiblancos’ and it’s going to be difficult for the Spanish club to match the North London club’s valuation so, Tottenham are ‘very close’ to getting this deal done

Feyenoord are looking to let go of their star player for a fee of around £85m and it’s still not clear how much Tottenham are willing to spend to secure his signature.

Giménez enjoyed a productive campaign last term, scoring 26 goals and registering eight assists in 41 appearances in all competitions.

Tottenham will be hoping that he will be able to replicate the same performance in the Premier League if he eventually joins the club this summer.
