Xavi Hernandez provides update on €80m Barcelona star linked to Man United

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has insisted that Ronald Araujo is happy in Spain despite interest from Manchester United in the Premier League.

Manchester United are set to strengthen their backline in the summer with the club expected to let go of some players.

Raphael Varane became the first casualty on Tuesday when he announced he will be leaving the club when his current expires.

With Barcelona currently in a financial crisis, United are reportedly willing to convince them into selling Araujo during the summer.

Xavi Hernandez has now addressed the 25-year-old’s future, stating that he wants Araujo to stay and that the player is “happy” at Barcelona.

“I always talk with Roni and he knows what I think. There are zero doubts on his future on my side,” Xavi said via Fabrizio Romano.

“He knows what I want for his future and he’s happy here.”

The Uruguay international is a valuable asset for the La Liga giants but the centre-back is a player clubs like Bayern Munich are also monitoring.

Araujo has grown to become an important player in the Barcelona squad, however, time will tell if he’ll make the switch away from the La Liga team.
